Perlite Rosteto (2.5 l). Expanded perlite is a light, granular, porous mass of white or gray-white color produced by heat treatment from raw perlite. Perlite is essentially an amorphous aluminum silicate of volcanic origin, it belongs to acidic volcanic glasses similar to obsidian, pitch and pumice, from which they differ in the content of chemically bound water. Heat treatment (expansion) at temperatures of 900-1300 ° C produces a product in the form of small hollow spheres of various sizes. Upon expansion, the volume of perlite increases 5 to 10 times. Expanded perlite acquires excellent thermal and sound insulation properties at low specific gravity. It is chemically inert, non-flammable, non-toxic, non-hydroscopic, has excellent sorption properties, is volume-stable and has a very low dead weight. It is resistant to moisture and frost, microorganisms and mold. It can be used in the temperature range -200 ° C to + 900 ° C. Perlite aerates growing substrates, stabilizes moisture and contributes to the good condition of cultivated plants. It is used for sowing seeds susceptible to fungi, for hydroponic cultivation.
